Middle Lypiatt is a beautiful rural hamlet three miles from Stroud on the South-facing side of the Toadsmoor Valley.  The surrounding area boasts several historic homes. Dick Whittington, the celebrated Lord Mayor of London bought nearby Lypiatt Park in 1395. The Queen's first cousin Prince Michael of Kent lived at the other end of the Lypiatt Ridge in Nether Lypiatt Manor until 2005. Today our neighbours include the home of the world-famous Giffords Circus.

Your hosts Matt and Susie Thomson have run a B&B at the Cottage since 2017 and opened the Safari Tent in 2020.  Three generations of Thomsons built the wooden platform on which the tent sits.  The tent was made in Stroud, and all furnishings were sourced locally.

We hope you will enjoy your stay in this very special place.

Matt grew up in Gloucestershire, moving to London after University where he met Susie.  A marketing and PR exec during the week, Matt is a wannabe builder who spends the weekends walling, levelling slopes and most recently built the deck for your safari tent.

Susie is a Superhost on AirBnB and has welcomed more than 300 guests at the B&B in the Cottage. As the creative lead for the Glamping venture, she has made sure your every need is met.

The rest of the gang

Matt and Susie moved to Middle Lypiatt with their three children in 2014, falling in love with the tranquility and space. When you first arrive, you'll likely be greeted by a neigh from our ponies and will probably spot a small dog.
